That way, it's basically knockback and poison heaven. We give one of these to our Act One Rogue Sister mercenary, too, of course. Thus, entire mobs are getting knocked back as they are painted with poison. And then, come 24th, we have "machine gun knockback" thanks to Strafe. It works in Multiple Shot mode (6th) in which we are essentially firing multiple arrows outward, like a fan. Knockback works on larger sub-bosses like The Smith, Radament and Tooric Icefist, too. Especially with that plague-level poison that we've got going on (150 dmg/5 secs). Keep hitting the enemy and it keeps getting knocked back until it finds itself off-screen. If the enemy gets hit again, it gets knocked back further. Once hit by an arrow, the enemy gets knocked back a few paces. Thus, we need to wait until Act Two and the Horadric Cube, which allows us to cube an Ort from three Rals.įirst of all, Nef Knockback gives us the breathing space archers need, pre-Valkyrie (a tank-summon for 30th level 'Zons). Not only that, but the level requirement is steep thanks to that Ort, and the Countess drops only up to Ral, anyway. At that point, the equivalent for Bowazons is Edge (25th, Tir-Tal- Amn).īefore Edge (again, a one-off, 9.09% chance of an Amn drop at the forge, a snowball's chance in hell of having it drop otherwise, and short of farming 27 Orts: ridiculous), Bowazons are limited to the Zephyr-runeword bow at 21st (Ort-Eth), which is underwhelming in comparison to Steel and Malice, with its standout features being +25% run/walk and +25% IAS. Moreover, double-swingers can double the mods of those runewords. Depending on their luck in netting Amn runes (a one-off, 9.09% chance of dropping at the Hellforge), they can then move up to the Strength-runeword at 25th ( Amn-Tir). In Normal mode, Barbs can be dual-wielding Steel-runeword axes at 13th (Tir-El) and Malice-runeword axes at 15th (Ith-El-Eth). The problem is not so much the build opportunities (they're solid) but rather the lack of a notable early runeword. In my experience, the Bowazon is one of the weakest if not the weakest build to play on Hardcore mode.
